OUR MODEL: RAPID CARE
DOORSTEP CARE
Community Health Workers
(CHWs) search for patients through door-to-door home visits and rapidly connect them to life-saving, universal health care. Supported by a dedicated supervisor and a suite of digital tools, CHWs provide an integrated package of life-saving health care services in the home, rapidly diagnosing and treating the most common illnesses.
RAPID-ACCESS CLINICS
CHWs identify patients who need
more complex care: the sickest patients are evacuated by off-road ambulances to receive care without user fees from nurses, physicians, and midwives at redesigned rapid-access primary care clinics.
CARE WITHOUT FEES
To ensure fast and universal
access, Muso removes point of care fees for all its patients.
WHO LEADS THE RAPID CARE DELIVERY?
COMMUNITY HEALTH WORKERS (CHWs)
In our model,
Muso’s front-line changemakers are our Community Health Workers — CHWs — who work within strengthened public health systems. CHWs go door-to-door to search for patients and connect them to life-saving services in the home or the clinic early.
WHAT CARE IS DELIVERED?
CHWs provide a package of health care services in the home, including:
CLINICAL REFERALS
Muso CHWs triage care for more severe illnesses, and specific patients' needs, to capacitated, rapid-access government clinics and hospitals. Patients access all care without fees.
MALARIA, DIARRHEA, &
PNEUMONIA TREATMENT
Muso CHWs proactively provide the current global gold standard package of community health care for children, known as Integrated Community Case Management (iCCM).
HOW ARE CHWs MANAGED & SUPPORTED?
360° SUPERVISION MODEL
As CHWs deliver care at the doorstep, dedicated supervisors provide regular performance management support through Muso's 360º Supervision model. A study found that Community Health Workers who received 360° Supervision achieved significant improvements in the speed, quality, and coverage of care over time. We know that every CHW has their own particular strengths and struggles. That is why 360° Supervision tailors performance improvement to the unique fingerprint of each CHW’s strengths and areas for improvement. Muso is providing technical assistance to support our government partners in Mali and Côte d’Ivoire to scale the model nationwide.
1: CHW DASHBOARD
Supervisor reviews data analytics summarizing CHW performance along three metrics: speed, quantity, and quality of care.
2: GROUP SUPERVISION
monthly meetings between a CHW Supervisor and their CHWs.
3: SOLICITATION
of patients' feedback.
4: OBSERVATION
of CHWs' daily care delivery.
5: ONE-ON-ONE FEEDBACK
of each CHW with their Supervisor.
